Spina Zonke’s expansive and immersive world games feature hundreds of titles from multiple providers. Each one boasts unique quirks, feature mechanics, theoretical returns and more.
Choosing the right game for your needs is important. As is understanding the mechanics of each game and how they fit into your playing style. Someone who plays R500 on every spin will have different goals and strategies than someone spinning for a couple of cents.
Feature Frenzy: Santa's Village
Santa’s Village is a charming slot from Habanero that taps into the sights and sounds of a white Christmas. It’s a wonderfully immersive and cosy experience, with the festive soundtrack further amplifying the experience. But let’s be real, nobody’s playing this game because reminds them of opening presents in front of the fire (an altogether foreign experience for South Africans anyway!), they’re playing to cash in on one of the most enjoyable and engaging features out there!
The Map Feature is triggered when the Santa symbol lands in a winning combination in the base game. Once triggered, the game will cut away to a map around which Santa will travel to deliver gifts. He will deliver a gift to a house every time he arrives at one of the bigger blue map markers.
One of three features triggers depending on the building he delivers the gift to. We’ll expand a bit on these below:
1. Santa symbol free games
You will activate the Santa Free Games feature if he delivers a gift to one of the three buildings above. Here you will be awarded 12 free spins with the Santa symbol acting as a Wild, substituting for all other symbols. We’ve found that this feature will almost always trigger before the other two.
2. Sleigh free games
The Sleigh Free Games feature is activated when Santa delivers a gift to one of the three above buildings. 12 free games are awarded during which Santa can (at random) fly across the top of the screen in his sleigh dropping 2-4 additional gift (Wild) symbols across the reels.
We’ve found this to be the most profitable of the three features. He’ll deliver four Wild symbols once or twice during this mini-game’s 12 spins.
3. Sticky re-spins
The Sticky Re-Spins feature is triggered when a gift is delivered to one of the four buildings above. Like the other two features, 12 free spins will be awarded here. Any winning combination that lands during this feature will award two Sticky Re-Spins as well as an additional free game. The sticky symbols are cleared after the two additional sticky re-spins have occurred.
Feature Purchase: Siren’s Spell
There are some games out there like Siren’s Spell that give you the chance to pay a fee to trigger a a free spins feature. You can also engage the game’s famous Super Bet feature, increasing your chances of landing the free spins feature.
Of course, all of this comes at a price. Paying upfront for the feature will cost you around 50x your stake. That means that if you’re playing for R1, you’ll need to pay R50 to guarantee a shot at free spins.
The Super Bet feature is a bit more economical but doesn’t come with the guarantees mentioned above. Here you can double your stake to significantly increase your chances of landing the three Scatter Symbols needed to initiate the free spins.
It is worth noting that this is a high-volatility game, and you’re unlikely to score any big wins during regular play, so the Super Bet and Buy Feature facilities are all the more important. If you’ve got a smaller float/budget, this game probably isn’t for you.
Consistent returns: Wealth Inn
If you’re looking for a game that consistently delivers smaller wins then Wealth Inn might be what you’re looking for. Free of big breakaway screens and elaborate features, Wealth Inn makes good in other ways.
With its low volatility and an RTP of 96.67, this is the perfect game if you want a limited float to go a long way. How it consistently pays out and keeps your float from diminishing too quickly makes it a perfect option if you want to nab a Jackpot Race prize.
We actually did a test, playing for R2.24 a spin at Hollywoodbets. We kicked off with a R100 float and after 150 spins our float was sitting at around R84. Wealth Inn – despite its expensive-sounding name – gently sips at your float leaving you in the game for longer.
Simple as: Knockout Football Rush
Are you looking for something simple with an RTP on the higher side and a relatable theme? Knockout Football Rush could be your game! Developed by Habanero, this game is a throwback to the 90s-style soccer games you’d find at your local corner shop or arcade.
This is a high-volatility game, but the regularity at which you can trigger the penalty kick sticky wild feature means you’ll steadily score wins to replenish your float. This game is as straightforward as they come: five symbols and a 3×3 layout. Land three symbols in a horizontal or vertical line and you’ll scoop a payout.
The game’s big feature is the penalty-kick stick Wild. This triggers randomly with a breakaway screen showing a player lining up a penalty kick. A sticky Wild and Bonus Football Symbol will appear where the penalty kick lands. This will remain on the reels, moving up one row on subsequent spins. The Football acts as a Wild, Scatter and Bonus symbol and applies the following multipliers to your wins:
- 3-5 Football Symbols on-screen multiplies all wins by 2x
- 6-8 Football Symbols on-screen multiplies all wins by 4x
- 9 Football Symbols on-screen multiplies all wins by 60x
